A message from Tyler Norton
DID YOU KNOW that if you want to get to the heart of ASEA, there is no better way than to spend some time with ASEA Founder Tyler Norton?
Triple Diamond Debbie Wetzler invited Tyler to speak on a team call recently. He shared in a personal way diamond gems of wisdom about Advancing thru Adversity, putting our “ASEA Ethos” into practice in 2020, as well as some gold nuggets of 2020 ASEA business advice.
“2020 will not be a year any of us will soon forget” Tyler acknowledged and that advancing thru adversity (during this difficult time with COVID-19) with unprecedented challenges throughout the world is a good time to stop, reflect, and think about your mindset. He shared a quote from a book called “Living Forward” and the book posed a question that feels very relevant today:
“When you’re dealing or facing significant adversity, ask yourself – What does this challenge make possible?”.
Answering this question may help you find positive ways to change the way you do your business. ASEA associates, in particular, can rethink how to network during a time when social distancing and no or limited meetings are possible.
The difference between a small business owner and an entrepreneur.
All entrepreneurs can be small business owners, but not all small business owners are entrepreneurs. The difference seems to be the ability to adapt. Entrepreneurs have the mindset to see a situation as it is – but quickly revisited to see where opportunities and threats exist and how to pivot and see the world differently to stay relevant and adapt. This mindset could be used to look at how this COVID-19 pandemic has changed our customer’s lives, our team member’s lives, their needs, income disruptions, lost economic opportunities, life/death, their hopes, fears, and even becoming more aware of our own physical immune response. This year has caused a major shift in how people view their lives and their future.
Control the Controllable
For those working in our ASEA’s home-based business, he said that it is important for us to acknowledge and reflect on “how much is enough”. How much time do we spend on our business? He said that “… whether it’s small or large, whether it’s an hour a week, 10 minutes a week, 10 hours a week, or more, it’s good enough! It’s enough!” The key to success in this business if we campaign from conviction and belief and not from a position of persuasion. Be highly active. But remain emotionally indifferent (i.e. don’t be overly reactive to the response). This is a good time to re-think how you are operating your business.
In Summary – Tyler Norton shares:
- What does this challenge make possible?
- The effect of 2020 on the way people view their lives, their needs, their realities, and their hopes and visions for the future.
- How to come from a place of conviction and belief and not from a place of persuasion and trying to convince.
- Controlling the controllable.
- Have cross accountability within your team.
- Create weekly micro-bursts!
- The benefits of high activity married with a certain amount of indifference.
- …and his thoughts on how to exemplify the culture of ASEA Ethos in 2020 through kindness (please see the quote below)
“I have wept in the night At my shortness of sight That to others’ needs made me blind, But I never have yet Had a twinge of regret For being a little too kind.”
